I had the chance to drive this Cayman R last winter...on Summer tires. Scary times were had.

Just swapped the winter shoes onto the FieSTa yesterday... still running those damn Michelin xIce xI-3s... which I don't like much... but I am looking forward to all the snowy fun!

Winter mode was activated on the STI on Monday. The Dunlop WinterSport 3D's were mounted and new wiper blades were installed. New tires were mounted to the truck a couple weeks ago and the snowblower is five minutes away from being mounted on the tractor. Oh how I love thee John Deere Quick Hitch. New work lights were installed on the tractor ROPS so I can see in the eternal darkness that is a northern winter. I'm ready. Maybe not excited, but definitely ready.
Here is a picture of the snowblower from last February when I sort of disassembled it. The wet is water from the snow melting off it.

That time of year when the Midwest looks like a hellscape.

NY is prime time in the winter from what OPPO was showing last year. Down here though, shorts year round.
It might drop to 30 or even 29 once or twice but shorts and a big jacket is fine :]

Flat/low rolling hills with few trees. Sort of looks like a bomb went off. No plants, no leaves on the trees. Desolate.

Why don't you like them? I've heard great things about those...

The impeller hub was forever coming loose on mine. It holds on the shaft with only two set screws and you could never get it to stay tight for more than 30 seconds so it would always blow shear pins on the impeller. Not a huge deal since it is only a 1/4"-20 bolt and lock nut, but it was annoying replacing it literally every time I cleaned the driveway which is pretty close to daily in the winter. Since the only way to get that hub of is to pull the auger and impeller assembly it all came out. I replaced the hub with a taperlock sprocket from work that I cut down to size and drilled for the shear bolt and it works much better. Taperlock hubs are so awesome. Until you forget to tighten the one you used to replace the drive sprocket on the back and it spits out the key and spins on the shaft. Oops.

God I'm jealous. I wish I could keep my summer tires on year round!

Not bad.
I just had to replace the gasket on the gearbox for the primary auger. So simple fix.

If the heater worked in the Taurus, I would be thrilled. There is nothing more entertaining than trying to watch Texans drive around when there's a hint of ice (or snow, or rain, or the moon, or...) because the entire city just shuts down. It's the most amusing thing ever until one of them runs into you.
